THE INSTANCES OF REVELATION

For Blancarte "What emerges from art is the new, something that did not exist. The artist has arrived at it, at the creation of that unique object, following a process that is his own history: his periods of trial, his material, cultural and experiential discoveries.

In each new work he is preceded by this history, either as a reanimation or as a contradiction or better, counter-pressure, because each work is at the same time an object, a new act, just as for us it is a new vision of presence. As such it must follow, notwithstanding the personal catalog, the silence and emptiness prior to the creative act.

A contained violence inhabits these paintings, with areas of an earthy quality where the gaze is immersed in serenity, or various clarities that evolve from yellow to green, to orange to yellow, always interwoven with each other to suddenly open up in the irruption of a black that bursts from the background, or a bulge that breaks with the fine structure of perpendicular lines and half circles sgraffito. There is a tension at the limit, symmetry about to explode, immobility of the surface that contains a boiling inside. And on the basis of that fullness, the calligraphic sign traces its anarchic gesture...
In very few Mexican artists it is possible to observe a creative trajectory like Blancarte's, his evolution and involution.

 

The power of abandonment is encoded in a double movement: a letting go to continue finding, again and again, his leitmotiv in a succession of perfectly complementary creation and destruction. The consistency of a work that goes from one stage to another with discoveries that lead to new knowledge, allows us to see his work as a great palimpsest.
Blancarte is in each one of his steps, as the god Proteus is himself in each one of his metamorphoses...
